01 独立口语

Now you just received an invitation to a job interview, but the company is quite faraway, in a neighboring city. You can travel to that company to do a face-to-face interview, or you can do a telephone interview. Which would you choose?

面试选择face-to-face还是选择远程on the phone? (重复旧题）

思路解析

答法一：

选择face-to-face

理由①：面对面地进行面试，交流的效率更高——因为如果是电话面试，一旦网络或者信号不好，面试会被频繁打断的情况，或者画面卡顿等等；面试进行不顺利。

表达关键词：

more effcient; will be influence by the unstable network; be interrupted frequently；the video is stuck; The interview won't go well/ The efficiency will be significantly reduced.

理由②：面对面地进行面试，可以使用一些肢体——语言帮助自己获得成功。因为我可以和面试官保持眼神交流，TA也能看清我的面部表情，可以更好地展示出自信，不会误解我的意思，因此会更容易成功。

答法二：

选择on the phone

理由①：方便，节约时间，不用花时间在通勤上——比如我住在一个城市，面试地点在另一个城市，这样就不需要坐飞机或者高铁去其他城市面试；随时随地都可以进行面试，这样更方便。

理由②：省钱——比如对于很多刚毕业的大学生来说，他们需要去另一个城市面试，需要买机票，订住宿，或者花钱在吃饭上，这对他们来说都是一笔经济负担。

02 学术讨论写作

Dr. Achebe

Around the world, urban areas need to deal with the problem of city-center traffic. Often too many vehicles use the roads, and the roads have extremely high traffic at certain times of the day. Some city governments are trying to decrease traffic congestion by introducing congestion pricing: drivers will be charged a substantial fee for driving their vehicles into the city center during busy times of the day. Do you think that congestion pricing is a good idea? Why or why not?

If congestion pricing is imposed, then some drivers will avoid visiting the city center during busy times. Businesses there will suffer because they will lose customers, and because businesses pay taxes, cities may lose more money than they would gain by charging the traffic congestion fee.

Claire

I think congestion pricing is a good idea because if people have to pay extra to drive into the city center maybe they will share rides to split the cost of the fee. What leads to traffic congestion is the fact that so many people are driving alone in a car when they could be carpooling.
