标点符号的使用一直是SAT语法的重头内容，其中同位语标点符号的使用规则则是高频考点，23年3月SAT考试, 仅module1就考了3道同位语的使用，可见该考点有多么受出题人的喜爱。该知识点其实并不难，但很多学生依然会在判断的时候出现一些小失误。今天我们就来聊一聊如何快速精准得判断两个名词同位语之间的标点符号。

首先，什么是同位语(appositive)？简单来说，同位语通常就是一个名词或名词性短语，出现在另一个名词或代词前后，用来解释说明那个名词。

例如：My brother's car, a sporty red convertible with bucket seats, is the envy of my friends.

红色部分就是同位语。

这里 my brother’s car 和 a sporty red convertible with bucket seats之间是有逗号的，但还有很多情况下，我们是不加标点符号的，那么什么情况下加，什么情况下不加呢？

判断规则如下：

1，当前面被解释的名词太宽泛，同位语和被解释的名词之间不需要加逗号。

The popular US president John Kennedy was known for his eloquent and inspirational speeches.

这里president与John Kennedy之间是不加逗号的，因为John Kennedy是核心信息，没有该信息我们根本不知道是哪个总统。

2，如果前面被解释的词本身就很具体，去掉同位语不会极大的改变句意，那么就需要加标点符号

John Kennedy, the popular US president, was known for his eloquent and inspirational speeches.

我们来看两道题：

1，The person chosen for this task, digital artist, Eldar Zakirov painted the cats in the style traditionally used by portrait artists.

Which choice completes the text so that it conforms to the conventions of Standard English?

A) NO CHANGE

B) task, digital artist, Eldar Zakirov,

C) task digital artist Eldar Zakirov,

解释：我们首先来判断Digital artist 与 Elder Zakirov 之间的标点符号。Digital artist是一个宽泛的名词，没有后面的人名，我们根本不知道是哪一位艺术家，所以这俩之间不加标点，排除AB。

现在来判断 the person chosen for this task 与 digital artist Eldar Zakirov. 前一个名词短语很明显看出是为这项任务选定的一个人，是具体的，所以与digital artist Eldar Zakirov之间要加逗号，答案选D。

2，Writer Silvia Moreno-Garcia’s love of short fiction began when she read a collection of Edgar Allan Poe’s stories as a child, and she would develop into a prolific short story writer herself, publishing pieces like “Ahuizotl” (2015) and “Water” (2007).
